We lost another superstar to the IL this weekend. This time, it was Jose Ramirez, who became the eighth MLB hitter to suffer a fractured hamate bone Saturday. Vinnie Pasquantino became the ninth when he was placed on the IL Sunday. In case you were wondering, there were 10 players in 2023, 2024, and 2025…
I’m worried about Spencer Strider. Again. His return from his latest IL stint to open this season has mostly gone well, and it seems like there’s been a lot of good vibes around him. That was especially true coming off his nine-strikeout effort this weekend, where, if he wasn’t all the way back, it seemed…
A few days ago, in writing about Gerrit Cole’s return from Tommy John surgery, I asked a simple question: “Is he … you know … back?” If Wednesday was any indication, yeah, he’s all the way back. Cole absolutely dominated the Royals Wednesday, limiting them to just four hits across 6.2 shutout innings while striking…
When the rotation spot opened up for the Marlins, I thought it would be Braxton Garrett who got the call. Turns out I was just early, because Robby Snelling suffered a sprained UCL during his MLB debut last week and is going on the IL. It’s a big blow for the young pitcher, and it’s…
Whenever I fall for a player like Trevor Rogers, I always think back to that cinematic classic, Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. *extremely Obi-Wan Kenobi voice*: “Wait a minute, how did this happen? I’m smarter than this.” Usually, I’m the one preaching patience, ala Anakin Skywalker (in this scene and literally only this…
The second wave of prospect call-ups has begun, and we saw a bunch of big names get the call this week. So, before we get to the rest of our top choices for the Week 8 Waiver Wire, let’s take a look at six of the top prospects who were called up this week, with…
You aren’t replacing Tarik Skubal. But you have to replace Tarik Skubal. This is the problem when you lose a superstar player like Skubal, because there’s no way you can actually replace him, but you also can’t just give up on the season. You have to try to make the best of it, especially since…
All Logan Henderson has done at the MLB level is dominate. Maybe it’s time for the Brewers to fully commit to him. Henderson made his return to the majors Sunday against a Nationals team that has been unexpectedly feisty, and he did what he has always done when given the opportunity: He pitched excellently. He…
Well, I guess we found out what’s wrong with Garrett Crochet. The Red Sox ace hasn’t looked quite right since Spring Training, and on Wednesday, the team announced he will be going on the IL with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. It’s an injury that will keep him out until at least the second week…
Did we get out over our skis with Payton Tolle after his debut? It’s possible! I was pretty much ready to declare him as a top-40 starter in baseball after his 11-strikeout effort against the Yankees last week, with the only real hold-up coming from concern about whether he would stay in the rotation or…
