About Yanksville
A home for Yankees history.
An independent reference for the numbers, people, places, and seasons that make the Yankees worth following.
What belongs here
Yanksville puts lasting reference material first: uniform numbers, retired numbers, Monument Park, and championships. The aim is to make an answer easy to find and its evidence easy to check.
How we handle the record
We prefer original club records, Major League Baseball, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and established baseball-history research. Each reference page names its sources. Historical guides remain valuable, but their player totals and current-status statements can age.
We distinguish a verified fact from incomplete coverage. If a person or season is absent from a guide that is still being researched, that is not evidence that it never happened. Conflicting dates are explained rather than quietly flattened into one answer.
Original writing and clear attribution
Reference facts are organized in original guides. When Yanksville covers reporting from elsewhere, the standard is a concise original summary with a link to the original reporting—not a copied article or an automatic rewrite.
Corrections
Found a discrepancy? The source links on each guide identify the evidence behind the entry. A useful correction includes the page, the exact fact in question, and a reliable source that supports the change. Where sources disagree, we retain the distinction until the record can be resolved.
